Untitled Desert Game

This is a game I have been making in RPG Maker. Yes, I know a lot of those games are kind of cookie cutter, but the engine is just so easy to use, and I love old school turn based RPGs. This one I will hopefully finish, though I imagine it will take quite some time to do so.

EDIT: I am still working on this project, however it has morphed almost entirely into something else. The skeleton of the game remains, but the art, premise, theme and setting have all changed as well as the story.

I shall post more about that as soon as there are some nicer looking screenshots of it in its current form.

Desert Game?

This project is one I've been working in in a modified version of RPG Maker, I utilise all of Yanfly's plugins as their work is just fantastic and I doubt  I could do a better job of those systems myself, plus a few scripts I have written myself and some other bits and pieces I've cobbled together to make the engine a bit more diverse and result in the end product being a bit more unique than the standard affair that comes out of that engine.

There are two other main elements that will set this aside from other titles in this clade of games. The first being the narrative. I have mapped out and developed a branching narrative system, not too dissimilar from the kind you might see in TellTale Games' work, and plan to execute it throughout the game. The standout feature will hopefully be the high quality narrative and branching choices that I aim to make have real impacts on the game world and characters. Not just isolated choices that impact minor changes in the end of quest lines, but overarching decisions in the narrative that changes how not only their relevant questlines play out, but the entire direction of the narrative. So far I have around 12 unique endings planned, but that will likely be scaled back during development to about half.

The other unique element that will help set this apart is my own art style. Many of the games that come out of this engine just use the default assets, or adapt extras into that style. I aim to create 100% bespoke assets for every part of the game in my own unique style and make it feel truly unique and memorable. As well as that I plan to create all of the music tracks myself and make that aspect also 100% unique.

The game is set in a sprawling desert and the player must forge their way through it's harsh environments in order to discover the mystery of their own past and forge the destinies of not only themselves, but the host of memorable and colourful characters that they meet along the way.
